Effective Date: March 4, 2026

Fari ("we," "us," or "our") is a cycling community mobile application designed to connect riders globally, aged 18 and above. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app, including features such as posting rides, exploring routes, private messaging, AI coaching, and challenges. By using Fari, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Please read this policy carefully. For any questions, contact us at fari.love@service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect various types of information to provide and improve our services. This includes:

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect details such as your username, email address, password, profile picture, age verification (to confirm you are 18 or older), and any optional biographical information like cycling preferences or location preferences.

1.2 Device and Usage Information

We automatically gather data about your device, including IP address, device type, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers, browser type, and usage patterns such as log-in times, features accessed, and interaction metrics.

1.3 Location Data

With your permission, we collect precise or approximate location information from your device's GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular data to recommend nearby routes, verify rides, or enhance community features. You can control this via device settings.

1.4 User-Generated Content (UGC)

Information from posts you share, including ride details (distance, elevation, time), photos, videos, comments, likes, and collections. This also includes private messages and call logs metadata (without recording content).

1.5 Payment and Transaction Data

For AI coaching or in-app purchases, we collect billing information through third-party processors, but we do not store full credit card details.

1.6 Other Data

Fitness data from integrated devices (if connected), survey responses, or feedback you provide voluntarily.

We only collect information necessary for app functionality and do not gather sensitive data like health metrics unless explicitly shared in UGC.

2. How We Collect Information

Information is collected through multiple methods to ensure seamless app operation:

2.1 Directly from You

When you register, post content, explore routes, initiate chats, or purchase AI coaching services, you provide information voluntarily.

2.2 Automatically

Using technologies like cookies, pixels, and logs, we track app usage, session duration, and error reports to monitor performance and prevent issues.

2.3 From Third Parties

We may receive data from integrated services, such as social media logins (with your consent), device sensors, or analytics providers like Google Analytics for aggregated insights.

2.4 Inferred Data

Based on your interactions, we may derive preferences, such as recommended routes from your ride history or challenge suggestions from performance data.

We respect your privacy settings and provide options to limit collection where possible.

3. Use of Your Information

We use the collected information to deliver a personalized and engaging cycling community experience:

3.1 Service Provision

To enable core features like posting rides, commenting, private messaging (text and voice calls), route discovery, AI-driven coaching (including training plans, performance analysis, and nutrition tips), and challenge participation.

3.2 Personalization and Recommendations

Analyzing your data to suggest tailored routes, connect you with similar riders, or customize AI advice based on your fitness level and goals.

3.3 Improvement and Analytics

To enhance app functionality, fix bugs, measure user engagement, and develop new features, such as optimizing route algorithms or community moderation tools.

3.4 Communication

Sending notifications about app updates, ride invitations, challenge reminders, or responses to your inquiries. We may also use email for marketing if you opt-in.

3.5 Security and Compliance

Detecting fraud, enforcing terms, moderating content, and complying with legal obligations, including age restrictions.

3.6 Research and Aggregated Data

Using anonymized data for internal research or industry reports on cycling trends, without identifying individuals.

We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to the app without your explicit consent.

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Your Information

We share information only in limited circumstances to support app operations and legal requirements:

4.1 With Service Providers

We engage third-party vendors for hosting, payment processing, analytics, AI coaching algorithms, and customer support. These providers are contractually bound to use data only for specified purposes and maintain confidentiality.

4.2 Community Features

Your public posts, profiles, and UGC are visible to other users within the app. Private messages remain between participants unless reported for violations.

4.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction, with notice provided where required.

4.4 Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, property, or safety, including preventing harm or investigating violations like harassment in chats.

4.5 With Your Consent

For specific shares, such as integrating with external fitness apps or publicizing achievements.

4.6 Aggregated or Anonymized Form

Shared with partners for research or advertising without personal identifiers.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your information is stored securely to protect against unauthorized access:

5.1 Storage Locations

Data is hosted on servers in secure data centers, potentially in multiple jurisdictions, with encryption in transit and at rest.

5.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard safeguards, including firewalls, access controls, encryption (e.g., SSL/TLS), regular audits, and employee training on data protection.

5.3 Incident Response

In case of a data breach, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by law, and take steps to mitigate risks.

5.4 Data Minimization

We collect only what's necessary and delete inactive account data after a reasonable period.

Despite these efforts, no system is entirely secure; users should use strong passwords and report suspicious activity.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We employ cookies, web beacons, pixels, and other tracking technologies to enhance your experience and gather usage insights.

6.1 These tools help us remember your preferences, maintain sessions, and analyze how you interact with features like route maps or community feeds.

6.2 You can manage cookie preferences through your device settings or app options, though disabling them may limit certain functionalities.

6.3 Third-party cookies from analytics partners are used solely for aggregated performance metrics, not for targeted advertising without consent.

7. Third-Party Integrations

Fari integrates with services such as payment gateways, mapping APIs, and fitness trackers to support seamless features.

7.1 When you link external accounts, we receive limited data with your authorization, such as ride syncs or login credentials.

7.2 These partners adhere to their own privacy policies, and we conduct due diligence to ensure compliance with our standards.

7.3 We do not share your data with third parties for their independent marketing unless explicitly approved by you.

8. International Data Transfers

As a global app, your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your residence, including the United States and European Union data centers.

8.1 We implement appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses and encryption, to protect data during transfers.

8.2 Transfers comply with applicable laws, including GDPR and CCPA equivalents, ensuring equivalent protection levels.

9.2 We respond to such requests within 30 days, or as required by law, and provide options to opt-out of data processing.

9.3 You may also withdraw consent for certain data uses, such as location tracking or marketing communications, via in-app toggles.

10. Children's Privacy and Protection

Fari is intended exclusively for users aged 18 and older; we do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.

10.1 If we discover a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated information.

10.2 We actively monitor for and prohibit any content involving Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE), reporting violations to authorities as mandated.

10.3 Parents or guardians concerned about potential underage access should contact us immediately for investigation and removal.

11. User-Generated Content (UGC) Management

UGC, including posts, comments, and messages, is collected to facilitate community interactions and stored on secure servers.

11.1 By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use, display, and moderate your content for app purposes.

11.2 We review UGC for compliance with community guidelines, removing infringing material like spam, harassment, or illegal content.

11.3 Copyright ownership remains with you, but we may use anonymized UGC for AI training or feature improvements.
